The Antalya cycling scene

Antalya is Turkey's Mediterranean cycling base: a warm, dry climate makes it rideable nearly twelve months a year, and the city has become a winter training destination for road riders. In town the riding is flat and easy along the Konyaaltı and Lara seafront paths, but the Beydağları (Taurus) mountains rise immediately behind the coast, giving serious climbing toward Termessos, Saklıkent and the Tahtalı cable-car road. The local scene is anchored by long-running volunteer groups rather than commercial clubs, with weekly evening city rides and weekend nature tours. The pro stage race Tour of Antalya has run in the region, reflecting the area's road-cycling appeal.

Start here

The easiest entry point is the ABS (Antalya Bisiklet Sevenler) Tuesday-evening city ride, which has met every Tuesday at 20:00 since 2013 at Atatürk Park on Konyaaltı Caddesi and welcomes all levels. For a more organized scene, ANTBİSDER (Antalya Bisiklet Derneği) runs basic cycling education, weekday evening city tours and weekend nature tours.
