Copenhagen

The world's bike capital. Flat, fast, and obsessively bike-friendly — then north along the Øresund coast or a loop around Amager.

The Copenhagen cycling scene

Copenhagen is the global benchmark for everyday cycling: around half of all trips to work or study in the city are made by bike, and the region is wrapping up a 500 km network of signposted Supercykelstier (cycle superhighways) spanning the Capital Region. That commuting culture sits alongside a real sport scene — coffee-shop clubs like Cranks & Coffee in Klampenborg and Stenbroen in Nørrebro, brand clubhouses (Rapha, Pas Normal Studios), and century-old race clubs like Arbejdernes Bicycle Club. The terrain is flat and fast, so most riding is road and gravel rather than climbing. The signature outings head north along the coastal Strandvejen toward Klampenborg and the UNESCO-listed Dyrehaven deer park, or loop the island of Amager out to the old fishing village of Dragør.

Start here

For a social, all-levels entry point, Stenbroen's open Tuesday ride leaves Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro at 17:30 and finishes with a beer at Nørrebro Bryghus — just show up with a bike. Cranks & Coffee runs Thursday group rides from its Klampenborg café, and the Rapha and Pas Normal Studios clubhouses both roll out weekly rides that skew international and English-friendly.
