The Macau cycling scene

Macau is one of the densest places on earth, packed into roughly 33 square kilometres, so there is no quiet road-cycling hinterland the way Hong Kong or the mainland offers. The peninsula and the Cotai casino strip are choked with traffic, and serious road riders are rare; the cycling that actually happens is mostly recreational and concentrated on Coloane, the green southern island. There, coastal lanes and the Hac Sa Long Chao Kok area give a calmer, hilly few kilometres by the sea. The Cycling General Association of Macau, China is the UCI-affiliated governing body and the real backbone of the organized scene, running road and track racing, training, and seasonal public cycling tours rather than a deep web of independent clubs.

The Cycling General Association of Macau, China (中國澳門單車總會) is the practical hub: it organizes spring and autumn cycling tours, Lunar New Year rides, and races, and is based at the Olympic Sports Centre in Taipa. For casual riding, head to Coloane Village, rent a bike on the main street, and ride the coastal loop toward Cheoc Van and Hac Sa beaches.
